Teen driver dies in crash

BOWLUS—A 16-year-old girl was killed Sunday, Nov. 18, when the vehicle she was driving went off the road and hit a drainage ditch in Morrison County.

The Morrison County Sheriff's Office responded to the one-vehicle fatal crash at 6:17 p.m. near the intersection of 100th Avenue and 90th Street, northwest of Bowlus, in Swan River Township.

According to the sheriff's office, 16-year-old Kalie Olson of Swanville, was driving a 2007 Chrysler Sebring west on 90th Street, when the vehicle went off the road and hit a drainage ditch. Olson was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff's office reported.

The crash is under investigation by the sheriff's office and the Minnesota State Patrol.

The sheriff's office was assisted by the Bowlus First Response Team, Bowlus Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance.
