The Center's Morning Club will meet 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at The Center, 803 Kingwood St., Brainerd.

Speaker will be Mary Kay Anderson. She will discuss women's jail ministry.

The Alpha Chapter No. 23 OES will meet 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26 at the Masonic Hall.

Dinner will be 5:30 p.m. at Northwind Grille.

Patty and Jim will serve treats.

Sons of Norway to have bake sale

The Sagatun Lodge of the Sons of Norway of Brainerd will have a bake sale beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Westgate Mall.

The sale will include Scandinavian favorites including lefse, almond bread, krumkake, assorted breads, caramel rolls and more.

Also, the 2019 collectible Norwegian and Swedish calendars will be available.

Bethany holiday bake sale and boutique planned for Dec. 1

The Bethany holiday bake sale and boutique will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at 804 Wright St., Brainerd.

The event is a fundraiser for Bethany residents.

Brainerd Legion upcoming events

Commander Rick will host a breakfast buffet from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, Nov. 25.

Cost is adults, $9; children, $4.

Bob's barbecue ribs for $11 will be the special dinner Friday, Nov. 30. Walleye dinner is also available for $11.

Backus American Legion, Auxiliary and Sons of the Legion to host holiday events

BACKUS—The Backus American Legion, Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion will host several Christmas and holiday events for children and adults during the upcoming season.

The post's annual Christmas and Customer Appreciation Party will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. It will include complimentary food and door prizes, a 10-round, 50-package ham raffle and the post's Usual Suspects Comedy Theater production of Christmas on Christmas Island based on a popular song recorded in 1946 by the Guy Lombardo orchestra together with Minnesota's Andrews Sisters. The comedy show is at 5:30 p.m. with a visit from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus following that about 6 p.m.

The evening will conclude with free cash and customer drawings at 9 p.m.

The Auxiliary Kid's Christmas Party for children age 10 and under is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 15. It includes goodie bags, a gift project, a visit from Santa Claus and a complimentary lunch.

The post is participating in the Hackensack Chamber of Commerce's Giving Tree program providing gifts for needy area children. Gift requests will be available at the Legion starting Tuesday, Nov. 27. Gifts should be returned to the Legion by Dec. 10 for distribution to families by the chamber on Dec. 14.

The post's annual Early New Year's Eve Party, Rio in Backus, includes a dinner dance with the Frankie Lamb Band playing classic country, pop, old time and swing from 5:30-9:30 p.m. An Auld Lang Syne Early New Year's toast at 9 p.m. includes complimentary champagne.

Dinner is a grilled shrimp and barbecued ribs combo with a salad, baked potato, roll and dessert for $13, including gratuity, served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The lounge appetizer and pizza menu will also be available, and the club will remain open until closing after the dinner dance with digital music.

The Washington High School Class of 1957 will have lunch at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Northwind Grille.

Crow Wing County Fair Board of Directors to meet

The Crow Wing County Fair Board of Directors will meet monthly at 7 p.m. the second Monday of the month from December to April 2019 at the Crow Wing County Land Services Building behind the historic courthouse.

Election results announced from Crow Wing County Fair Association dinner

The annual Crow Wing County Fair Association dinner, meeting and election of board positions was Nov. 1, at the Brainerd Eagles Club.

Members elected to serve a three-year term were Corey Hins, Sharron Ryappy, Tammy Blazek and Chad Turcotte.

Senior dances

Senior dances will be from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Motley Ten-Hi with music by Jerry's Dance Band; from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday at Waukenabo with music by Two For The Road; and 1 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Pine River Legion with music by Frankly Country.
