Benefit for John Holder planned
A benefit for John Holder will be from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at the American Legion in Brainerd.
Holder was diagnosed four months ago with liver and bladder cancer. He is currently undergoing his second round of chemotherapy. A surgery is slated for October.
Holder and his wife, Terri, are lifelong Brainerd residents. Many also know Holder from his days in the band Silent Partner.
The benefit will feature a taco bar, silent auction, meat raffle, 50-50 and a raffle. All benefit proceeds will go toward the medical expenses of John Holder.
The Center's Morning Club meeting set
The Center's Morning Club will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at The Center, 803 Kingwood St., Brainerd.
The presenter is Dave Freiday, The Center's lead facility manager.
Disabled American Veterans and Auxiliary to meet
Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary (DAVA) Chapter No. 22 will meet 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Brainerd VFW Club.

The Washington High School (Brainerd) Class of 1967 will be gathering for a potluck lunch 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Kathy Herold's home on Lord Road, north of Brainerd.

194th Regiment to meet
The 194th Regiment meeting will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at the Brainerd National Guard Armory.
Agenda will be preparation for the 9 a.m. Sept. 8 Bataan Memorial Death March by 194th Armor Battalion and the 62 U.S. Flag Ceremony.
Nisswa Women's Club to meet
The Nisswa Women's Club will meet Thursday, Aug. 16, at Jack's House in Brainerd.
Social time will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch served at noon. The program will be Alaska Travelogue presented by club member Kathy Allex.

The Past Commanders' annual chicken and corn feed will be 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16. Cost is $9.

HACKENSACK—Hackensack American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 202 will serve breakfast from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, at the Club.

The extended registration deadline for Brainerd High School Class of 1973's 45th class reunion ends Wednesday, Aug. 15.
Register by calling 320-292-5605. The fee of $75 per person for both nights needs to be paid by Aug. 15. Fee for Friday night only is $35 per person and the fee for Saturday night only is $50 per person.

Families In Grief educational and supportive presentation Thursday, Aug. 16
Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center is offering an educational and supportive presentation of Families In Grief from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, in a meeting room located in the lower level of the hospital, 523 N. Third St., Brainerd.
Topics will include shared grief and its impact on families, physical and emotional responses to grief and surviving first years of grief.
Families In Grief is for those who have had a relative, friend or significant person die. There is no charge to attend.
