Sunny skies and mild temps on the menu leading to Thanksgiving

Posted: November 18, 2012 - 10:44pm

This year, the trip to grandmother’s house should be smooth sailing — at least in the lakes region.

The National Weather Service in Duluth is forecasting sunny skies and warm temperatures with highs about 50 degrees through Thanksgiving.

Brainerd had a high of 55 degrees Sunday, well shy of the record of 67. The weather service lists the record high for Brainerd for Nov. 19 at 56 degrees. A southern air flow is bringing the mild temperatures and creating favorable conditions to travel, finish up last fall preparations for winter and to put up the manger in anticipation of Christmas.

The sun is forecast to stay but temperatures will be getting colder for the weekend with highs expected in the upper 30s. The average high for this time of year is about 38 degrees.
