Winter weather advisory issued
Freezing rain expected overnight
The National Weather Service reported freezing rain may hit the Wadena area early Thursday.
The weather service issued a freezing rain advisory until 6 a.m. Thursday noting icy roads could make for hazardous travel conditions.
Central Minnesota is in a winter weather advisory for late Wednesday into 3 a.m. Thursday for a mix of light freezing rain and snow starting about midnight. The cities of Little Falls and Long Prairie and counties of Morrison and Mille Lacs were included in the warning which noted snow accumulations may be up to an inch by daybreak Thursday and motorists may encounter slick spots on area roads.
In the Brainerd lakes area, the weather service reported there is a chance of snow and freezing rain but little or no ice accumulation is expected. Total snow accumulation is expected to be less than half an inch in the Brainerd area. Another inch of snow may fall on Thursday with the chance for snow at 50 percent. Friday’s chance of snow before noon, changing to rain and snow after noon, is listed at 20 percent. Mild temperatures are forecast to continue with Saturday’s high potentially reaching 39 degrees.
