Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers owner and general manager Joel Sutherland announced the team's 2009 promotional schedule Thursday.
The Lunkers promotional schedule including the home opener featuring Harmon Killebrew, is loaded with special guests, giveaways and theme nights.
The promotional schedule is highlighted with special guests like Dora the Explorer (June 12), American Idol's William Hung (June 23), Rally (July 13) and Spiderman (July 30).
More than half of the 34 regularly scheduled games will have a giveaway for the first 300 fans. They include full-sized wood baseball bats, fishing lures, souvenir batting helmets, replica jerseys, and umbrellas to name a few. The Lunkers will also have several theme nights, including a Summertime St. Patty's Night where players will wear green shirts and green hats. There will even be a game where fans can bring their dogs and the first 300 dogs will receive a treat.
"Promotions are what make the Northwoods League great," Sutherland said. "We have 34 home games and each game has something unique and fun for the fans. The promotional schedule has a night for everyone, and we're very excited to bring a new spirit of Northwoods League baseball to the lakes area."

The home opener, presented by Cub Foods, is 7:05 p.m. May 28 at Mills Field. Tickets are available at the Lunkers ticket office located at Mills Field or by calling (218) 824-3474. General admission tickets may also be purchased at Cub Foods locations in Brainerd and Baxter.

May 28: Home opener presented by Cub Foods. Hall of Famer and Minnesota Twins legend Harmon Killebrew will be on hand to throw out the first pitch. First 1,000 fans will receive a magnet schedule.
May 30: Lunkers Bat Night. First 300 kids 14 and under receive a 28-inch full-size wood baseball bat.
May 31: Catch a Lunker Day presented by Mills Fleet Farm. First 300 fans receive a fishing lure to catch their own Lunker!
June 1: Minnesota Twins Night. In honor of the new Target Field the first 300 fans will receive a Twins hard hat.
June 2: Lunkers Baseball Glove Night. First 300 kids 14 and under receive a baseball glove.
June 9: Lunkers Baseball Cap Night. First 300 fans will receive a Lunkers Baseball Cap.
June 10: Lunkers Mini Bat Night. First 300 kids 14 and under receive a Lunkers mini bat.
June 11: Diamond Dig Night presented by Riddle's Jewelry. 200 lucky ladies will have a chance to dig up a token buried in the infield dirt after the game to be redeemed for a $1,000 diamond ring!
June 12: Dora the Explorer Night presented by Charter Communications. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the Nickelodeon character Dora the Explorer.
June 19: Heart Healthy Night presented by Brainerd Lakes Health. First 300 kids 14 and under receive a red Lunkers baseball.
June 23: She Bangs, She Bangs Night. William Hung from American Idol will be on hand to throw out the first pitch, sign autographs and perform his rendition of "She Bangs."
June 24: Guaranteed Win Night. If the Lunkers happen to have less runs then the Border Cats after nine innings, all fans will receive a free ticket to a future Lunkers home game.
June 29: Lunkers Pennant Night. First 300 kids 14 and under will receive a Lunkers Pennant.
June 30: Nickelodeon Universe Night. The First 300 kids will receive certificates to Nickelodeon Universe located inside the Mall of America.
July 3: Go Green and Save Green Night. Fans will receive green giveaways throughout the night and learn energy saving tips to save green.
July 4: Fourth of July Celebration Day presented Mills Fleet Farm. All fans will receive complementary hot dogs throughout the game.
July 6: Good Samaritan Bowl Night. First 300 fans 14 and under receive a Lunkers replica jersey/T-shirt.
July 7: Play Catch with Dad Night. Bring your gloves; all fans will be able to play catch on the field before the game.
July 10: It's all Green, green uniforms, green hats, green bases, green foul lines and green beer! It's Summertime St. Patty's Night presented by Miller Lite. First 300 fans 21 and older will receive a Lunkers pint glass.
July 11: Relay for Life Night.
July 12: Baseball Bingo Day. All fans will have the opportunity to play baseball bingo for Lunker prizes.
July 13: Rally Night presented by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. The national award winning entertainment act Rally will be performing all game long.
July 14: Lunkers Umbrella Night. First 300 adults receive a Lunkers full-sized umbrella.
July 15: Salute to the Troops Night presented by the U.S. Army.
July 23: Habitat for Humanity Night presented by Greater Lakes Area Realtors. First 300 fans will receive a Lunkers cooler bag.
July 25: Dog Night at the Ballpark. Fans who bring their dog to the game will receive a general admission ticket for $1. Plus the first 300 dogs will receive a Milk Bone.
July 26: Launch-a-Ball Night with Susan G. Koman for the Cure. Fans will be able to throw tennis balls on to the field after the game to win great prizes.
July 29: Minnesota Vikings Night presented by Miller Lite.
July 30: Marvel Comic Character Spiderman Night. Kids will have the opportunity to meet and take pictures with Spiderman.
Aug. 3: Batting Helmet Night. First 300 kids 14 and under will receive a Lunkers souvenir batting helmet.
Aug. 4: Trading Card Night presented by Cub Foods. First 300 fans receive a set of Lunkers trading cards.
Aug. 6: Team Poster Night presented by Franklin Outdoor Advertising. First 500 fans will receive a Lunkers team poster.
Aug. 7: Back to School Backpack Night. First 300 kids 14 and under will receive a Lunkers Backpack.
Aug. 8: Fan Appreciation Night. There will be giveaways throughout the game.
