PARK RAPIDS - Ent Chongkavinit fought severe leg cramps during his third No. 3 singles match, but pulled off the victory to help the Staples-Motley Cardinals claim the Mid-State Conference title Thursday.

Chongkavinit, Jordan Peterson (No. 1 singles) and Mike Lindaman (No. 2 singles) were all perfect to give the Cardinals 29 team points. That tied Park Rapids, but according to Cardinals coach Kevin Coughlin S-M won the tie breaker to win the conference crown.

S-M's Adam Cox was second at No. 4 singles as was the No. 2 doubles team of Grant Longbella-Matt Spar and the No. 3 doubles team of Austin Hirschey-Shane Suess.

Taylor Garcia and Mike Paavola finished third at No. 1 doubles for the fifth-place Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines.

Team Score: 1-Staples-Motley 29, 2-Park Rapids 29, 3-Detroit Lakes 23, 4-Perham 15, 5-Wadena-Deer Creek 9
