John Milton Mahlum

SUN LAKES, Ariz. -- John Milton Mahlum, 79, Sun Lakes, Ariz., died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, in Portland, Ore.

He was born Aug. 7, 1923, in Brainerd to Milton and Marie (Koop) Mahlum. He married Mary Thielman of St. Cloud on Nov. 14, 1942. He was a Marine and served during World War II. He was a 38-year employee at 3M Corp. and served as president and chief executive officer at Hunt Technologies in Pequot Lakes until his retirement in 2000.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Richard Mahlum, Thomas Mahlum, Robert Mahlum, John Mahlum and William Mahlum; two daughters, Mary Schmitt and Carol Horton, all of whom live out of state; a brother, William Mahlum, St. Paul; and three sisters, Mary Connell, Jeanne Hunt, Nisswa, and Breta Conlon.

A memorial service was Dec. 21 in Portland. Burial will be Aug. 7, 2003, in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.
