Doris Jeannette (Bloom) Anderson
April 24, 1923 - Dec. 25, 2009
Our "Mormor" peacefully joined her husband, France (Bud); her parents, John and Hannah Bloom; and her sister, Eloise Larson, in heaven this Christmas morning at the age of 86.
She was a master at growing and arranging flowers and growing and arranging homes. She was a dog's best friend, whether one of her own or one of her many canine visitors. A social expert at bridge and other card games, she graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and business college in her hometown of Spokane, and brought her skills to Richfield after marrying a Minneapolis Swede in 1945. She later worked as an executive secretary at Control Data in Richfield. She actively supported several Richfield PTAs, the American Legion Auxiliaries in Richfield and Nisswa, and the Richfield Garden Club. The couple retired to Cinosam on Gull Lake in 1979, and in 1999 she moved to Burnsville. Her last years were greatly enhanced by the attentions of Mount Olivet Careview Home in Minneapolis.
Her family is grateful for her advanced sense of humor and graciousness to one and all, as well as her tolerant guidance through our shenanigans over the decades.
Doris is survived by children, Eloise Erkkila (John), Floyd (Sue), Terry (Bonnie), and Kristi Bloom (Randy); 12 grandchildren; five and a half great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She is buried next to Bud at Fort Snelling Cemetery in Minneapolis - a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
A memorial service is planned in the Lund Chapel at Mount Olivet Careview Home, 5517 Lyndale Avenue South, on Saturday, Jan. 2, at 10 a.m. There will be a light lunch after the service. Memorials please to the Paul Bunyan Conservation Area, 14250 Conservation Drive, Box 375, Brainerd, MN 56401.
