Miriam Wessel Bautch, age 88, entered into eternal rest on Dec. 28, 2003, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village. Mirian was born in Sioux City, Iowa, on Aug. 7, 1915, to John and Nan (Harlusin) Misenhelder. Miriam and Bill Wessel were married in 1939. When they moved to Brainerd in 1945. They owned and operated Wessel Shoe Shop, where they also bought and sold antiques for many years.
Miriam married Orville Bautch in 1991. They were active in Zion Lutheran Church, also enjoying dancing and playing cards.
She is survived by one sister, Gladys Charbonneau of Glenwood, Minn.; four children, Wayne (Terri) Wessel of Minneapolis, Beverly (James) Love of Cohasset, Carol Moddes of Nisswa, David (Kathy) Wessel of Oakdale; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband William Wessel in 1982, her husband Orville Bautch in 1999, one brother Lloyd Misenhelder, and son-in-law Thomas Moddes.
Services were 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, with the Rev. Paul Biegner officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are with Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd.
