Currie's goal gives W-DC boys overtime win

WADENA -- Wadena-Deer Creek's Brandon Currie netted two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead the Wolverines past the Spring Lake Park Panthers 6-5 in the W-DC boys' hockey tournament Saturday.

Travis Pettit also scored two goals to aid the Wolverines.

LITTLE FALLS -- Bo Corrow had two goals and an assist as Little Falls won the Flyers' Invitational by defeating the St. Michael/Albertville Knights 9-1 in boys' hockey Saturday.

Morgan Cekalla had three assists and a goal in the Flyers' win. Corrow was named the tournament's MVP.

PINE CITY -- Todd Szymanski scored two goals and had an assist, propelling Pequot Lakes to a wild 4-3 victory over Minneapolis Edison Saturday night for third place in the Pine City tournament.

Regulation ended in a 3-3 tie. No scoring in the first overtime brought the game into a shootout. After the teams each registered three goals, a triple-overtime sudden-death shootout began. Edison missed its shot, and Pequot Lakes' Patt Hoffman beat goalie Jason Roberts to win the game.
