Lake Placid, N.Y. -- Jaime Mueller of Brainerd will be one of 13 athletes competing for a spot on the 2000-2001 World Championship Team as the U.S. Biathlon World Team Trials get under way in Lake Placid Jan. 2, 3 and 5.
Up to four men and four women will be chosen for the team. Athletes who qualify for the team will compete in World Cup events in Germany, Italy, Lake Placid and Salt Lake City prior to the World Championships in Slovenia.
Mueller and the following Minnesota athletes will be competing in the World Team Trials:
Jacob Beste, Minneapolis; Ryan Cameron, Minneapolis; Dan Campbell, Hastings; Andy Erickson, Minnetonka; Ben Kremer, Duluth; John Kurtz, St. Louis Park; and Steve Scott, St. Paul.
Jill Krause, St. Cloud; Andrea Nahrgang, Wayzata, member of U.S. National Team; Kara Salmela, Duluth, member of U.S. National Team; BethAnn Ellingson, Grand Rapids; and Beth Kolb, Stillwater.
Nahrgang and Salmela are members of the U.S. National Team and Ellingson is a member of the U.S. Jr. National Team.
