I used to like to look at the wild irises on my way to town. Then came the ATVs. They ripped. They gouged. They sprayed mud. I even saw a touching scene of a father with a small child illegally perched on the back of his ATV picking the pretty irises. The irises are gone now. Who would have thought?
Our county commissioners could have stopped it but they did nothing, nada, zipola. Our commissioners continue to do nothing. Meanwhile a few ATV riders damage our ditches, our driveways, our county roads where they cross, our wetlands and our forest trails. Why do our commissioners allow it? Are they hoping the problem will go away like the irises?
In a perfect world the commissioners would resign, repay county taxpayers for tax dollars wasted on repairing the unnecessary damage they allowed and even volunteer to repair our driveways with their own money and sweat.
I would like to ask Commissioners Tautges, Walters, Ferrari, Sluss, and Larsen how much more damage are you going to allow to our public lands and our highways? Are you going to pay for the damage? Are you going to come out and fix it personally?
And lastly why do you think you deserve our vote when you waste our money like this?
Thanks for support
As a soldier overseas during this holiday season, I appreciate all the support and well wishes from my family, friends, and supporters of all troops deployed. My deployment away from my loved ones over this holiday season is made a little easier because of a child's letter sent to "any soldier", care packages from home, flags flown in a soldier's honor and holiday greeting cards. These are the things that make being away from home that much easier.
Your well wishes and sincere thanks are what allow me to carry out my duties. There are times I wish I were back home, but then I remember the reasons I am deployed overseas this holiday season. I am deployed because of a refugee camp, an elderly woman crippled from stepping on a land mine, a child without a father, an elementary school without school supplies, a medical clinic with no antibiotics, and illegal weapons in the hands of terrorists. I am deployed to assist a war torn nation rebuild itself. I am deployed to prevent a civil war from occurring again. I am deployed to protect a way of life. I am deployed overseas because I am a citizen soldier who is needed to carry out a duty.
Your support and prayers during this holiday season are greatly appreciated; thank you, happy holidays, and God Bless.
