Couple gets $100 as spirit of Christmas gift

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) -- A man and woman celebrated the spirit of Christmas by giving to a couple they didn't know $100.

On Christmas Eve, Melissa Bronikowski said she heard a knock on her door here and opened to find the couple standing on the front step smiling. They handed her the card, wished her a merry Christmas, and left.

"Actually, they sort of skipped and giggled down to their van," she said. "I wondered what was going on."

Bronikowski opened the card to find a $100 bill in it. It also included a handwritten note that read: "Please accept this as a gift from God to celebrate the birth of His son, Jesus Christ, who loves you. Thank only Him. Merry Christmas."

When she ran back to the door to thank the couple, they had already driven off.

Bronikowski plans to pay it forward next Christmas.

"I'm going to do the same thing," she said. "I'll even use the same card. I'll just pick a house and knock on the door, just like they did."
