The sound of sleigh bells provided a special holiday decoration this year for Whitefoot, a white tail buck deer owned by Lyle Austin of Merrifield. Austin has cared for Whitefoot for 11 years and decided to spruce up the eldest deer in his herd with a leather collar and bells.

At least 24 people from Brainerd will be sitting in the Rose Bowl watching the Minnesota Gophers play the Washington Huskies. Some of the group includes Mr. and Mrs. Roy Speed, Eleanor Nolan, Everett Lassig, Dick Lagergren, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Madison, Walter Wieland, Ed Sullivan, Bill Turcotte and more.

-- Mr. and Mrs. F.J. Casey of 1023 Oak Street, had as holiday guests their son and daughter in law, Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Casey of Virginia, Minnesota.
-- Richard Broach of West Point Military Academy is spending several days in Brainerd with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mills, 415 North Bluff.

It is reported that the captain of a Village Fire Brigade recently declined to call his men out to a fire because it was raining. Unfortunately the owner of the fire was too busy to keep it going till the first fine day.

"No," replied the absentminded clerk, "but we have something just as good."

She: (who has been informed that he is a bore). "No."
