Arlo V. Renschler

PEQUOT LAKES - Arlo V. Renschler died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, at his home in Ideal Township, Pequot Lakes, Minn. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Dec. 29, at 1 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, Brainerd, Minn., with Pastor Andrew R. Smith officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church one hour before the service. A fellowship gathering will follow at the American Legion Club.

Arlo was born March 19, 1932, to Edward and Pauline (Maier) Renschler in Linton, N.D. He is survived by his wife, Clarice; daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia and Don O'Connor, Duluth, Patti and Steve Gabrielson, Sartell, and Carol and Jim Kramer, Baxter. His grandchildren, who were the light of his life, include John (fiancee Sara), Marie, Jim and Rob Gabrielson, Kelly and Kristin O'Connor, and Brett, Carlie and Trisha Kramer. Arlo is also survived by his brothers, Jim (Arlie) and Harry (Irene); and sisters, Lucille and Aileen. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Lester.

After serving in the U.S. Air Force, education became the focus of Arlo's life. He was a school principal in Bowdle, S.D., and Kennedy, Minn., then began his counseling and administrative career with the Brainerd School District. Mr. Renschler developed a number of significant secondary vocational programs for the senior high school of District 181. He established the district's Alternative Education and Teen Parent programs. Arlo served on Rural MN CEP and PORT boards.
