Progress continued in 2005 on turning the former Pine Meadows Golf Course into a mixed retail and residential development.
The golf course closed in late 2004 and was bought by Baxter Town Center LLC. The property had served as a golf course since the 1920s.
In September the Baxter City Council accepted the final plat for the development. The plat for the property featured only outlots, which aren't buildable until individually platted with the city. There are nine total outlots with proposed mixed zoning of residential and commercial, though the city has received no plans for the outlots.
In early November the Pine Meadows Golf Course clubhouse was torn down, clearing the way for the development.
The developers, Baxter Town Center LLC, intend to develop the entire site, though it may contract with other developers to construct the buildings.
The golf course development was linked to the Cypress Drive extension as developers waited for the city to decide on a route before deciding what their development would look like. Cypress Drive will run from its current location in the city's industrial park, north across Highway 210 and along the east side of the golf course near the Paul Bunyan Trail.
