CROSSLAKE -- Stephen L. Klein, 77, Crosslake, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at Pierz Villa.
Memorial services will be Friday, Dec. 31, 11 a.m., at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake with the Rev. Father Dennis Hoffman officiating. Friends may visit at the church during the hour prior to services. Military honors will be provided by the Crosslake-Fifty Lakes American Legion Post 500. Burial will be later this spring, at Our Lake of the Lake Cemetery in Mound.
Stephen Leo Klein was born May 2, 1927, in Chanhassen to Henry and Elizabeth (Marschall) Klein. After his schooling he worked as an auto mechanic. He served in the Navy from 1945-1946. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Chanhassen. He was united in marriage to Audrey Marshall, the mother of his children, Aug. 16, 1949, in Shakopee. The couple made their home and raised their family in Eden Prairie. Stephen did a variety of jobs, including driving milk truck, driving school bus and plowing snow. In August of 1958 he went to work as a heavy equipment operator for WG Pearson Inc., a construction company in Prior Lake, where he worked until his retirement. He moved north to Dewdrop Lake in 1978 and lived there until moving to adult foster care in 1998. He had been a resident of Pierz Villa since August of 2004. He belonged to Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake. He was a charter member of the Eden Prairie Fire Department, and had been a member of the Crosslake-Fifty Lakes American Legion Post 500.
Stephen is survived by his children, Gregory Klein, of Anchorage, Alaska, Cheryl (Gerald) Johnson, of St. Cloud, and Victoria (John Barr) O'Brien, of Northfield; siblings, Dorothy (Gilbert) Luers, of Hot Springs, S.D., Phillip (MaryAnn) Klein, of Pequot Lakes, and David (Jan) Klein, of Casa Grande, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
