The first home Golden Gloves Boxing card of the season is scheduled 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Wadena National Guard Armory.
Twelve bouts are scheduled with boxers from Wadena, St. Cloud, Willmar, Brainerd, Detroit Lakes and Pine River.
A double main event finds Nate Ott of Nevis at 235 pounds, the 1999 and 2000 Upper Midwest champion, going against 240-pound Tom Ortiz of Detroit Lakes, a 2001 Upper Midwest finalist.
The other feature bout sends Chris Holt of Detroit Lakes at 170 pounds, in his last amateur bout, against Dan Soukup of Pine River. Holt will make his pro debut Jan. 5 at Mahnomen Casino. He has fought as an amateur for 12 years and was a three-time USA state and two-time Upper Midwest champion with a record of 95-25.
Other Wadena boxers scheduled to see action include T.J. Steward, 147; Cody McManigle, 125; Dewayne Steward, 142; Luke Makela, 152; Adam Steward, 155; and Brent Steward, 69.
