Frederick J. "Fritz" Casey, Jr., 88, Brainerd, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor David Holte officiating. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Internment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens with military rites provided by American Legion Post #255.
He was born Jan. 30, 1919, in Brainerd to Frederick J. Casey, Sr. and Margaret (Buckler) Casey. He was a 1937 graduate of Washington High School. Prior to World War II, Fritz served as manager of Red Owl Stores in Crosby, Marshall and Brainerd. During the war he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Following the war, he operated F. J. Casey Insurance Agency in Brainerd for 28 years. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post No. 255 and the Elks Lodge No. 615.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Irene (Crawford) Casey, his parents, one brother and four sisters.
He is survived by one son, Frederick (Mary) Casey, of Brainerd; three grandchildren, Paul Casey of St. Paul, Kari Casey of Brainerd, and Jill (Aaron) Jordan of Blaine; and four great-grandchildren, Brook and Katelyn Jordan and Amy and Holly Ulanowski.
Arrangements are with Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd.
