Bernice M. Halvorson, 97, Brainerd, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at the Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.
Bernice was born in Red Wing, Minn., on Sept. 14, 1908, to Anna (Nibbe) and Dietrich Wilkens. She married Gerald Halvorson in 1938 in Red Wing, Minn. Bernice graduated from Miss Woods, with a degree in teaching. She was a homemaker, teacher, funeral director and a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her three children, Joey Halvorson, of Brainerd, Minn., Marty Halvorson (Jan), of Plymouth, Minn., and Susie (Joel) Bjerkestrand, Scottsdale, Ariz.; her grandchildren, Kari (John) Kearney, of Minneapolis, Minn., Derek Bjerkestrand, of Phoenix, Ariz., Jennifer Halvorson, of Plymouth, Minn., and Gregory Halvorson, of Plymouth, Minn.; and her great grandchild, Luke Kearney.
Her parents, husband, Gerald, and two brothers, Reno and Richard, preceded her in death.
Services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Mark Kleckner officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. with a memorial service at 6 p.m. at the Bethany Good Samaritan Village Chapel in Brainerd and one hour prior to the service at Zion Lutheran Church on Wednesday. Interment will follow the service in the Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.
