EAST BETHEL -- Delores D. Nestrud, 71, East Bethel and formerly of Aitkin, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge.
She was born April 19, 1930, at Porter to Alfred and Mabel Wiuff. She was raised in Newport and graduated from St. Paul Park Senior High School in 1948. She married Orvin Nestrud on July 31, 1948, at St. Paul Park Church of God. They lived on a farm in Hammond, Wis., for five years and at St. Croix Beach for five years. They also lived in St. Paul Park and Cottage Grove before they moved to Aitkin in 1969. In 1996 they moved to East Bethel where they had lived ever since. They were foster parents to many children throughout the years. She was active in women's ministries throughout her lifetime. She was a Sunday school teacher and program leader and received a Christian education service award from the Baptist General Conference.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Connie Hendrickson, East Bethel; two sons, Gayle Nestrud, Stark, and Tim Nestrud, Ramsey; a foster daughter, Jenny Knauber, Coon Rapids; a brother, Jarvis Wiuff, Canada; three sisters, Esther DeForth, Cottage Grove, Avis Kriebel, Minneapolis, and Joyce Strege, Minneapolis; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services are 7 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Haven Church in Ham Lake with the Rev. Fred Tuma officiating. A second service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glory Baptist Church in Aitkin with the Rev. Randy Stauter officiating. Burial will be in the Glory Baptist Cemetery in Aitkin.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. at Oak Haven Church in Ham Lake and one hour before services Thursday at Glory Baptist Church in Aitkin.
