MASON CITY, Iowa -- Manly E. Klinger, 78, Mason City, Iowa, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at his daughter's home in Baxter.
He was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Callender, Iowa, to Oscar and Edith (Hansen) Klinger. He grew up in Somers, Iowa. He served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. He married Eunice Nerdig on June 6, 1948. They lived in Burt, Iowa, where he worked at a blacksmith shop. They moved to Mason City, Iowa, when he began work at Barclay Co. where he worked until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mason City and the American Legion Post 729 in Mason City.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jean Wardrip, Baxter; a son, Paul Klinger, Walker; three grandchildren; a sister, Lorraine Schoonover, Callender, Iowa; two brothers, Duane Klinger, Farmhamville, Iowa, and Roger Klinger, Papillion, Neb.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Major-Erickson Funeral Home in Mason City, Iowa, with Pastor Doug Anderson, First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Olean Mound Cemetery, Buffalo Center, Iowa.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to the First United Methodist Church, St. Joseph's Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
