Leonore Elizabeth Huff, 96, of Brainerd, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, in Fargo, N.D. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Brainerd. Friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to services. A reception will be held after services at Brenny Funeral Chapel's Reception Room in Baxter. Interment will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples, Minn. Memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples, Minn., or the donor's choice.
Leonore was born Nov. 7, 1913, in Florence, Wis., the daughter of Myron and Eva (St. Onge) Huff. In 1930, the family moved to Staples, where she attended high school. After graduation, Leonore attended Normal Training and graduated in 1932. She taught in rural schools for five years before she went back to college in Fargo, N.D., to take business courses. She worked as a secretary for many years in Minneapolis and retired in 1977 from Visiting Nurses Service.
Leonore was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Minneapolis, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples and St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Brainerd. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of a number of clubs. Along with her friends, Leonore attended many Elderhostels in Minnesota and Wisconsin. She loved to go to her friend Marge's home on Lake Superior. It was her favorite place to travel.
Lee is survived by eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lawrence; nephew, Joe; and niece, Phyllis.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
