20 years ago (1982)

Not since the Great Depression have so many Christmas food baskets been needed. But while the need may be greater than ever this Christmas, so has been this community's response.

30 years ago (1972)

With the carillon chimes playing "Ave Maria" and "Holy Night," the community Christmas Pageant will open on the Courthouse lawn at 7 p.m. tonight.

40 years ago (1962)

Seniors of the Washington High School held a Holiday banquet last Wednesday at the high school. John Ebinger was master of ceremonies. The theme was "Silver Bells."

60 years ago (1942)

The annual Golden Glove Tournament conducted for boxers of this area and sponsored by the Brainerd Junior Chamber of Commerce will be held in the Armory here January 22 and 23.

80 years ago (1922)

Santa Claus appeared at the weekly luncheon of the Rotary Club and presented each member with an appropriate Christmas gift. The theme of today's meeting was the Spirit of Rotary at Christmas Time.

100 years ago (1902)

The coal market has not been replenished in Brainerd for some time and those who are using this very useful commodity are getting short.
