Ski Gull Ski Patrol breakfast, race set

LAKE SHORE -- The Ski Gull Ski Patrol will host its second annual Ski Patrol breakfast buffet from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 31 at Kelly's, located on County Road 77 on the west side of Gull Lake.

Tickets are $7.50 per person and are available from members of the Ski Patrol, Nelson Graphic Design, Ski Gull and Kelly's.

All proceeds will go to cover improvements to the Ski Patrol building and skier safety. The tickets are 100 percent tax deductible.

The third annual Michael Hadland Memorial Race will begin with registration at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 31 at Ski Gull. Ski races for beginners to experts will start at 1 p.m. while the relay race, with teams of four players, will start at 2:30 p.m. The cardboard box race will start at 3:30 p.m. Bring a box or buy one at Ski Gull. Come early to decorate the boxes.

The awards ceremony will be at 4 p.m. with a dinner at 4:30 p.m. Fireworks will start at dusk.

Cost for the race is $5 and includes dinner.

Pequot, Pine River Community Ed offer joint winter brochure

During the first week of January, the first joint Community Education brochure being published by Pine River and Pequot Lakes schools will arrive in the mail.

This will be the largest class and activity offering ever with more than 100 different classes and activities. Though classes will be listed on separate pages for each organization, and each organization will handle its own registration, anyone in either school district can take classes at either site.

The brochure will also list classes and activities of the Early Childhood and School Readiness programs of each school district. Also included will be Pequot Lakes Youth Sports and Crosslake Community Center activities.

Partners 56472 to discuss needs and issues

PEQUOT LAKES -- Partners 56472, a Healthy Communities Partnership group, will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the Eclipse Teen Center in Pequot Lakes.

There will be a brief drama presentation by Teen Improv, and then participants will break into action groups dealing with Parks and Recreation, Wages and Housing and Zoning and Government.

Snacks will be served and anyone interested in helping to make the greater 56472 community (Pequot Lakes, Breezy Point, Jenkins and surrounding townships) a better place are encouraged to attend.

Region 5 Council on Aging to meet Jan. 3

STAPLES -- The Region 5 Council on Aging will meet at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 3 at the Region 5 offices in Staples.
