Eight Nisswa NW/Duluth/Esko Biathletes are competing at Mt. Itasca in Coleraine in the US Trials for the Youth and Junior team.
Sunday in the Youth Men's 10km Pursuit format race, Raleigh Goessling of Esko won with two misses in 20 shots, finishing in 31:52. Conrad Roberts, Battle Lake was fourth with nine misses in 35:57. Erik Rupert, Duluth was seventh in 37:10. Nick Proell, St. Cloud, was 12th in 41:46; Zean Baker, Nisswa, 13th with 11 misses in 43:20; and Ty Hadrits was 15th, with 12 misses in 48:13.
Wynn Roberts, Battle Lake, was fourth Sunday in the Senior Men's Trials race.
In the 7.5km Youth Women's race, Jenna Ruzich, Baxter, was sixth with five misses in 20 shots, finishing in 37:26. Kelci Roberts was ninth with 14 misses and a time of 43:49.
In Saturday's 7.5km Y/M Sprint race, Conrad Roberts missed two of 10 shots, finishing first in 22:02. Goessling was fourth with four in 22:53; Rupert was sixth with three in 23:24; Proell was ninth with five in 25:25; Baker 14th with four in 27:16 and Hadrits 15th with five in 30:18.
Wynn Roberts won the Men's sprint race with two misses.
In the Youth Women's 6km Sprint race, Ruzich was eighth with five misses in 10 shots in 28:13. Kelci Roberts was ninth with eight misses in 30:20.
The final race will be Tuesday, after which the team for the Youth and Junior Championships will be named based on the best two of three races. The senior team, based on the best three of five races, will also be chosen. Wynn Roberts currently has a second, fifth, first and fourth in that series.
Four men and four women will be picked based on these trials to compete in the Biathlon Y/Jr World Championships in Sweden in January.
