Mildred Emma (MacKenzie) Garoutte, age 100, of Brainerd, formerly of Maine, Pennsylvania, Hawaii and California, passed away on Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, in Little Falls, Minn. She was born to George and Maude MacKenzie on Dec. 28, 1908, in South Berwick, Maine. She married Ralph Garoutte on Nov. 25, 1928, in Kittery, Maine. They were married for 72 years until his death in 2001. She is survived by three daughters, Elaine (Philip) Marshall, Elizabeth Church and Alice (Michael) Jones; one son, Ira (Carol) Garoutte; 23 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings; two daughters, Donna Andersen and Patsy Hoffman; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

Mildred was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in Hawaii in 1937 and remained spiritually active until her death. She loved telling of the wonderful promises foretold in the Bible of eternal life in a paradise and of the coming resurrection for all those in memorial tombs. She also enjoyed telling stories of her life experiences, especially of her ministry in Hawaii. She will be missed by her family and all who had the opportunity to enjoy her stories of her ministerial experiences throughout the years.
Arrangements are through Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, Minn. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Brainerd. Family and friends are invited to attend.
