The Brainerd Lakes Area Salvation Army is asking for more volunteers to help fill 123 hours that still remain open for bell ringing.
In a news release Monday, Major Jeff Strickler, corps officer for the Brainerd Lakes Salvation Army, said, "We are hoping to fill these remaining hours with volunteer bell ringers. These hours probably represent more than $7,000 in income needed to meet our Christmas kettle fundraising goal of $103,000. These dollars could help many of our neighbors in need. We are hoping additional volunteers will step forward to fill the gaps in our bell ringing schedule."
The Salvation Army is currently 70 percent of the way toward its kettle goal of $103,000.
"Christmas week is always a busy week for people, but if someone can squeeze just a couple hours time out of their busy schedule for volunteering as a bell ringer it will make a big difference in someone's life," said Strickler.
There are two ways to help the Salvation Army this Christmas season. Sign up to bell ring by calling 829-1120. Shifts can last as little as an hour. Or make a financial donation at a red kettle or mail a check to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 385, Brainerd, MN 56401, or online at www.thesalarmy.org. Online gifts can be designated to your specific community.
