20 years ago (1988)

The Brainerd area is a fine place to live, work and play. With coordination planning, it could be even better in the 21st Century. A determination to come up with an intelligent plan could make a nice Christmas present to ourselves and future generations.

30 years ago (1978)

Kathy Caughey continued her 600 counts in the women's Tri-Hi bowling league Thursday with a 613.

40 years ago (1968)

A snowstorm that started Saturday night and continued all through Sunday brought 8 inches of snow to this area and high winds drifted in across roads, streets and driveways, brining non-traffic to a standstill Sunday.

60 years ago (1948)

Forty-four children and 55 members of the Brainerd Lions Club attended the annual children's Christmas party and dinner given by the Brainerd Lions Club at the Hotel Ransford last night.

80 years ago (1928)

The Brainerd Theater is to receive talkies when theater is remodeled. Synchronized phonograph music may soon be installed at the Lyseum theater as an added musical feature, Mr. Heller, manager, said.

100 years ago (1908)

Last evening was the busiest seen on the streets and in the stores of Brainerd for some time. Everyone seemed out buying or at least looking at holiday goods.
