Crosby-Ironton snaps 12-game losing streak against Cardinals

STAPLES -- In 27 years of coaching Crosby-Ironton Rangers boys' basketball coach Dave Galovich accumulated 386 wins, but there was one that had eluded him until now.

The Rangers defeated the Staples-Motley Cardinals in Staples for the first time in Galovich's 20 years there 48-44 in Mid-State Conference action Tuesday.

The victory also snapped the Rangers' 12-game losing streak, home or away, against the Cardinals and is the first time C-I has beaten S-M in Staples since 1982.

Brett Dickie led C-I with 18 points followed by Matt Brady's 13 and Bryce Tesdahl's 10. Mitch Wood rounded out C-I's scoring with nine points.

Zach Martin led S-M with 13 points and Chris Jansson added 10.

PEQUOT LAKES -- Jesse Fisher knocked in 18 points, and Tucker Scheley and Joel Schramm each scored 11 as the Pequot Lakes Patriots upped their Mid-State Conference record to 2-0 with a 61-40 victory over the Pine River-Backus Tigers.

Thomas Anderson, Alan Anderson and Ethan Krecklau each scored nine points for PR-B.

LITTLE FALLS -- Sheffield Goodrich nailed a 3-pointer with two seconds left in regulation to force overtime and propel the Little Falls Flyers to a 61-55 double overtime Central Lakes Conference victory over Sartell Tuesday.

Senior forward Travis Fedor led the Flyers with 21 points and senior guard Ben Plante chipped in with 12, including three 3-point baskets.
