The Brainerd Patrolman's Association teamed up with some local contributors this week to distribute $1,700 in Christmas gifts and cash to area needy families.

30 years ago (1973)

Hundreds of spectators viewed and participated in this year's second annual community Christmas pageant.

40 years ago (1963)

The Roman V. Schultz home, at 315 North Bluff was named winner of the Christmas home decorating contest. The Schultz' received a $35 check as first prize.

60 years ago (1943)

Plans for construction of warming houses at Lum Park on Rice Lake and on Boom Lake where municipal skating rinks have been cleared will be made Tuesday night.

80 years ago (1923)

Message from Santa Claus

"Christmas time is drawing near," said Father Santa Claus.

"So I must harness my reindeer and drive without a pause."

"To America I'll haste away, with heaps of dolls and toys."
