EMILY -- Emily Habitat for Humanity sponsored its second annual Habitat for Humanity Chili Cook-off and Live Auction on Dec. 8, raising funds that will help the group continue to build homes for families in need of decent, affordable housing.
The group formed under the umbrella of the Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity affiliate in 2000 and began raising funds to build Habitat homes. The Emily area's first home was built by Crosby-Ironton High School and moved to a site this fall.
Volunteers, working with the partner family, soon will have the home finished and ready for occupancy. The Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity affiliate, which serves all of Crow Wing and Cass counties, hopes to complete at least 10 homes in 2002.
