The Music General Dancers will present their Holiday Show 2000 at 6:30 p.m. today at Tornstrom Auditorium, Washington Middle School, Brainerd.
More than 250 dancers from the Brainerd lakes area will perform in the show. New this year is the addition of excerpts from the ballet "The Nutcracker," performed by the students.
The highlight of the evening will be a guest performance by two members of the Minnesota Ballet in Duluth, Suzanne Kretsberg and Rogelio Corrales. The couple will perform the Grand Pas De Deux with Kretsberg as the Sugar Plum Fairy and Corrales as the Cavalier.
Kretsberg is a Chicago native, in her 10th season with the Minnesota Ballet. Before joining the ballet she danced with both the State Ballet of Missouri and the Wisconsin Ballet. She has also danced in the Chicago Tribune Charities production of "The Nutcracker" and as Odette in "Swan Lake."
Corrales, a native of Cuba, is in his second season with the Minnesota Ballet. He has performed soloist and principal roles in such ballets as "The Nutcracker," "Coppelia," "La Fille Mai Garden," "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "Sleeping Beauty," La Sylphide" and other classical and contemporary pieces.
This season for the Minnesota Ballet, he danced such notable roles as the Cavalier in "The Nutcracker," Prince Siegfried in "Swan Lake" and in the classic pas de deux roles of "Don Quixote" and "Le Corsaire."
