Albert Barrett Grewell, 88, Brainerd, passed away Dec. 16, 2008, at St. Cloud Hospital. He was the only child born to Bernard O. and Clara M. (Rappuhn) Grewell. He was born on Aug. 26, 1920, in Brainerd. He spent several years of his young life in Clemons, Iowa, where much of the family on his father's side resided.
Albert was a bombardier/navigator in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was married to Mavis Georgia Ebinger on Jan. 1, 1950. He worked at Northwest Paper Company (later Potlatch Paper Corporation) beginning in 1957 until his retirement in 1995. He lived in the home he built with his father-in-law in Brainerd since 1958. Since his retirement he has remained in his home, visiting and traveling with family and friends on a frequent basis.

Albert is survived by his children, Wayne B. (Brenda) Grewell, Christine M. Grewell, Sharon G. (Daniel) Benson; and his grandchildren, Andrew B. Grewell, Rachel G. Grewell, Christopher A. Benson and Katherine M. Benson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mavis; and a daughter, Carol Georgia Grewell.
Albert worked at Northwest Paper Company (later Potlatch Paper Corporation) beginning in 1957 until his retirement in 1995.
Services will be held on Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Mark Skinner officiating. Friends and family may call from 3-5 p.m. at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd with military rites provided by American Legion Post No. 255.
