Memorial services for Agnes C. Agre will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church in Granite Falls, Minn., with Pastor Bob Knutson officiating. Interment will be in the spring in Hillcrest Cemetery at Granite Falls.
Friends may call for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Agnes C. Agre was born on Nov. 10, 1911, at Sacred Heart, Minn., the daughter of Nels and Martha (Kronlokken) Engen. She was called from this life on Wednesday evening, Dec. 15, 2004, at the Bethany Good Samaritan Care Center in Brainerd. She had attained the age of 93 years, one month and five days.
Agnes grew up in the Sacred Heart area. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Church in Sacred Heart. She attended high school in Renville, Minn., and also completed teacher's training there. After her schooling she taught in rural schools for eight years. She also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years.
On Nov. 16, 1941, she was united in marriage to Arbie Agre. To this union two sons, Neil and Doug, were born. Agnes and Arbie were able to share over 50 years of marriage together. She was a member of Granite Falls Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aide and Circle. She worked as an aide in the English Resource Center in the Granite Falls High School for five years. After moving to the Bethany Good Samaritan Care Center she was involved in the Auxiliary and attended worship services, communion and bible study there.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Martha; her husband, Arbie in 1993; one son, Neil; and a brother, Elmer Engen. Agnes is mourned in passing by her son, Doug, and his wife, Sue, of Nisswa; a brother, Millard Engen, and his wife, Marlys, of Golden Valley; a daughter-in-law, Barb, and her husband, Denny Hanson; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
