AITKIN -- Ruth Striemer, 100, Aitkin, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at Riverwood Extended Care Center in Aitkin.
She was born May 12, 1902, in Iowa to Myron and Pearl Porter. She graduated from high school in Iowa. She married Bruno Paul Striemer. They owned and operated the Coon Lake Resort in 1948. She also worked at the Land O' Lakes Turkey Plant, the Tip Top Cafe and as the manager of Gunderson Apartments. She was a member of the Aitkin VFW Auxiliary, Aitkin Community Church and a former member of the Aitkin Assembly of God.
Survivors include a son, Roger, Esko; two daughters, Joyce Striemer, St. Charles, Mo., and Junice Striemer-Behrens, Apache Junction, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ava Blanchard, Frost Free, Fla.
Her husband; a son, Waldon; and a brother, Lloyd, died earlier.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Aitkin Community Church with the Rev. Glenn Browning officiating.
Friends may call a half hour before services Saturday at the church.
