Confidence Learning Center

Confidence Learning Center's board of directors and staff recognized and thanked Mary Harder for 25 years of service at its annual meeting and dinner on Dec. 1.

Harder, a Warroad native, came to Confidence Learning Center in 1982 when she was a senior a NDSU as an intern to complete her outdoor recreation degree. Harder has been a "fixture" at Confidence Learning Center as a senior member of the program staff and as the volunteer director.

"Mary has a get up and go personality that works well with the campers, staff and the volunteers," said Jeff Olson, executive director. Confidence Learning Center has been able to survive and prosper because of the time and talents of many volunteers that she organizes and coordinates. Harder is the go-to person who recruits hardworking people to sell Jaycees $150,000 Ice Fishing Extravaganza tickets, drill holes on the ice, build birdhouses and countless other activities that benefit the campers at Camp Confidence. Harder has fine-tuned the Diamond in the Rough cleanup days at camp each year into a major rally that brings together individuals and groups to get a lot of work done. The secret to Mary's success is that she always remembers that these people are volunteers and they need praise, encouragement and thanks.

Thank you, Mary Harder, for dedicating 25 years of your life to better the lives of people with developmental disabilities, deaf and hard of hearing at Confidence Learning Center.

Civil Air Patrol

This is to thank our Community, with a very special thank you to: Cub Foods, Subway Sandwich Shop, Dominos Pizza, Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que and the Airport Cafe. These business's supplied the Civil Air Patrol (100 plus) personnel with the food needed to continue the search for Mr. Lindberg and his aircraft. We supported the search for four days and had to feed these search teams and support personnel each day at our facility at the Brainerd Regional Airport. Without the support of these businesses and others, we would not have been able to complete the mission. Although the Civil Air Patrol did not find the aircraft we did expend many hours both on the ground and in the air, our personnel worked tirelessly and put forth great effort. We can all be very proud of our Community and the Civil Air Patrol for their dedication.
