Starting dates scheduled for 2 judgeship positions

Starting dates have been set for Assistant Crow Wing County Attorney Kristine R. DeMay and Cass County Attorney Earl Maus to begin their Ninth Judicial District trial court judgeships in Crow Wing County.

DeMay will start work on Jan. 2, assuming a new judgeship that was established by the 2007 Minnesota Legislature, John Hultquist, director of judicial appointments for the Commission on Judicial Selection, said Tuesday.

Court Administrator Darrell Paske said a public swearing-in ceremony for DeMay is scheduled for 3 p.m. Jan. 2 in Courtroom 1 of the Crow Wing County Judicial Center.

Maus will serve in the judgeship left vacant with the scheduled retirement of Judge Fred Casey on March 12. Maus will begin his judgeship on March 13. Paske said he was not of aware of any scheduled swearing-in ceremony for Maus.

DeMay, Merrifield, has worked in the Crow Wing County Attorney's Office since 1997. She is a graduate of Illinois State University and Hamline University Law School.

Maus has been Cass County attorney since 1986. He is a graduate of St. Cloud State University and William Mitchell College of Law.
