The Lincoln Elementary School parent conferences many have set a modern record. According to the principal, Lincoln attained 100 percent participation from parents at recent conferences held to discuss progress of its 345 pupils.

30 years ago (1977)

Citizen State Bank honored one of Brainerd's outstanding citizens, Mr. Einer Anderson, who has served for the past 23 years as Crow Wing County auditor. The "Heart of the Month" award is given to a person who has contributed to the betterment of the Brainerd areas.

40 years ago (1967)

Some Canadian honkers joined the ducks in the Boom Lake Pond yesterday as members of the Kiwanis Club and Lions Club continued their efforts to enhance the area with waterfowl.

60 years ago (1947)

When the Duluth - Staples passenger train rolls into Brainerd at 10:49 a.m. on Christmas Day, Santa Claus will be at the throttle of the locomotive. Santa has driven this Christmas morning and evening train over a period of years and on each Christmas Day he has left his cab to distribute candy and gifts to the little kiddies at every stop along the way.
