Boxing set Saturday at Wadena armory

The first home Golden Gloves boxing card is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wadena National Guard Armory.

Wadena will play host to boxers from Fergus Falls, Detroit Lakes, Willmar, Brainerd and White Earth.

A double main event is scheduled between Wadena's 178-pound DeWayne Steward and 180-pound Cory Thompson of Detroit Lakes. Wadena's 172-pound Trent Petro will take on 170-pound Tyler Hultin from Fergus Falls.

Other Wadena boxers scheduled to be on the card include 147-pound T.J. Steward, 158-pound Travis Petro, 140-pound Cody McManigle, 80-pound Chris Steward and 148-pound Billy Fletcher.

Two new boxers, 135-pound Jeremy McDonald, Sebeka, and 147-pound Branden Smith, Park Rapids, are scheduled to box their first bouts.
