The students and staff of Whittier School wish to extend our thanks to the many people in the community who supported our Lois Hoskins "Hug-A-Bear" drive.
We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our community as well as the Whittier students, families and staff. We have collected nearly 500 bears in a very short amount of time! We'd like to send individual thank you notes to all the people who simply walked into our school and dropped off a bear, but many of those people did so anonymously.
One woman stopped in to tell me that her children went to this school in 1964 and she was thrilled to help the children and visit the school once again. It warms our hearts to see how much people care about the welfare of the children in this community. This project has been such a wonderful tribute to the memory of Whittier's beloved media secretary, Lois Hoskins.
The bears have been delivered to the police department, the fire department and the ambulance service and will be used to help comfort children in trauma. Many thanks to all of you. We intend to make the Lois Hoskins "Hug-A-Bear" drive an annual one on the anniversary of Lois' birthday.

The Crow Wing County Passenger Safety Coalition would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the businesses, organizations and volunteers that made our last car seat clinic a huge success.
We would like to thank Mill's GM for their ongoing support by providing us use of their service bay for the event. Your service department staff is always accommodating and we especially appreciated how the staff kept the floor dry during the wet snow storm that evening. We also want to thank Pizza Hut of Brainerd-Baxter for providing all the workers and volunteers' pizza for dinner.
A special thank you goes out to the Kiwanis Club of Brainerd for their years of support for car seat education and car seat clinics. The Kiwanis Club continues to partner with the coalition providing us with volunteers to help staff the clinic and financial support to purchase car seats for distribution.
Twenty three car seats were inspected on Dec. 9, 2004 with twelve new car seats distributed. Thanks to all mentioned above, 23 more children in Crow Wing County are properly buckled in their vehicles.
