20 years ago (1984)

Harvey and Evelyn Mills, Pequot Lakes, are working to complete hundreds of lawn ornaments and wooden toys that will be Christmas holiday gifts. The two, along with their son, Dave, began making the items three years ago.

30 years ago (1974)

Children at Riverside School, parents and staff members enjoyed two plays presented by Miss Dambowy's third grade. They were titled, "Wiggle Worm's Surprise," and Runaway Presents."

40 years ago (1964)

The Merrifield School District has voted by a 17 to 2 margin to assume it's share of the Brainerd Districts bonded indebtedness. The action was the final step in consolidating the two districts.

60 years ago (1944)

School Branonian: Letters to Santa

This Christmas, Santa, please let as many of our boys over there as possible have a white Christmas and make them come home soon. Thanks a lot, Santa, we all have faith in you. Sincerely, The Senior Class of 1945.

80 years ago (1924)

The Christmas tree, which W.H. Gemmell so generously presented to the people of Brainerd, arrived Saturday evening, and is being set up today by the Lions Club on the Y.M.C.A. corner opposite the Ransford Hotel.

100 years ago (1904)

Hook, "Bjones is the most melancholy fellow I know."

Nye, "That's quite true. He proposed to a girl once by asking her how she would like to be his widow."
