ONAMIA -- The Mille Lacs Indian Museum will offer several events beginning in January.
Cost for each series of events is $3 per session, $1 for Minnesota Historical Society members and free for Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe members.
A Sewing and Beading Circle will run 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays and noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 9 through April 24. Share refreshments, stories and craft techniques at the informal gathering while using the sewing machine at the site.
Beginning Jan. 9, an Ojibwe language class will be offered 3 to 5 p.m. Fridays through April 23 at the museum. Band elder Norman Clark will teach different themes of the language, and participants will hear and speak Ojibwe receiving help with translations, homework an pronunciation.
Ojibwe Elders will be on hand to share traditional stories of the Anishinabeg 5 to 6:30 p.m. Fridays in January and February.
