A nearly new snowmobile was donated to the Brainerd Lakes Area Salvation Army Corps by a Pelican Lake area seasonal resident. The 2001 Arctic Cat Pantera, valued at more than $5,200, will be sold with all funds going directly to the Lakes Salvation Army Christmas kettle campaign.
The donor, who prefers to remain anonymous, has been a loyal contributor to The Salvation Army but usually his donations have come by cash or check.
This year, the donor decided to give a snowmobile because he wasn't finding the time to use and enjoy the sled. The sled will be on display at the Westgate Mall near the Herberger's entrance.
"At Twin Cities Salvation Army Corps, they take car donations, but we don't have a lot of experience with those kinds of donations," said Brainerd Lakes Area Salvation Army Corps Capt. Paul Ferguson, who coordinated with Roach's Lawn and Marine in the Pequot Lakes/Crosslake area to obtain and sell the machine.
For more information on the snowmobile, call the Brainerd Salvation Army offices at 829-1120 or Roach's Lawn and Marine at (218) 568-7787 or (218) 765-4350.
