BOULDER, Colo. - Gladyce J. Daarud, formerly of Brainerd, died of natural causes Dec. 8, 2005, in Boulder, Colo. She was 78. The daughter of Reuben Erickson and Rosabelle Hanson, she was born July 11, 1927, in Brainerd. She married Richard C. Daarud, M.D., on Aug. 26, 1948, in Brainerd. Mrs. Daarud moved to Boulder in 1963. Mrs. Daarud studied pre-nursing and took medical secretarial classes at Union College, Lincoln, Neb., and studied nursing at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles. She worked as a medical secretary for four years and as a homemaker for 57 years. She was a member of the National Auxiliary at Loma Linda University. Mrs. Daarud was a rock hound who enjoyed bird watching, camping, attending church and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved animals. Survivors include her husband, of Boulder, Colo.; two sons, R. Scott Daarud, M.D., of Boulder, Colo., and Steven E. Daarud, of Lee's Summit, Mo.; a daughter, Cheryl Boulais, of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Joyce Seale. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at Boulder Seventh-day Adventist, 345 Mapleton Ave., Boulder, Colo. Kirk King will officiate.
