Clara M. Demmers, 100, Brainerd, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.
She was born in a log cabin in Roosevelt Township, Minn., near Pine Center on Feb. 1, 1904, to Herman and Bertha (Sachert) Marohn. She attended school in a one-room schoolhouse until the eighth grade. She later attended the Brainerd Business School. She never lived more than 12 miles from the cabin where she was born. She married William Demmers, Sr. She was a homemaker and was an avid flower grower. She was a past president of the Crow Wing County Garden and Flower Society.
She is survived by her son William (Dorothy) Demmers, Jr., of Carlsbad, Calif.; three grandchildren, Michael Demmers, of Portland, Ore., Eric Demmers, of Fallbrook, Calif., and Sharon Dunckle, of Anchorage, Ala.; and three great-grandchildren, Michael Dunckle, of Anchorage, Ala., and Yesneen and Erica Demmers, of Fallbrook, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her sisters, Erna Belliveau and Ella Torgerson.
Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at the Woodland Good Samaritan Village Chapel in Brainerd with Pastor Lilja Behr officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the Woodland Chapel.
