HIBBING -- Ann A. Marlow, age 89, formerly of Backus, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Leisure Hills Care Center, Hibbing. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Backus, with the Rev. Brett Balfour to officiate. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Backus. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Willim-Northland Funeral Home, Pine River.
Anna Augusta Marlow was born on Dec. 4, 1914, the daughter of Guy R. and Helena (Patzke) Edwards in Ree Heights, S.D. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth and graduated from high school in Miller, S.D. She married Walter Marlow on June 25, 1938, in Pine River. After their marriage, they made their home in Backus. In 1951, they moved to Hibbing where they lived until retiring in 1974 at which time they returned to Backus. She was a member of the VFW No. 1221 in Hibbing. She had done volunteer work for the Backus Fire Department and was also a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church while living in Backus. Ann had been a resident at Leisure Hills Care Center in Hibbing for the past several years.
Survivors include a son, George V. (Judith), Hibbing; grandchildren: Heidi Marlow, Chad St. Aubin and Gail Bankston; great-grandchildren: Geoffrey and Bethany Bankston; sisters, Mary Melby, Backus, Anita Thompson, Minneapolis; brothers: Wayne, Rapid City, S.D., David, Miller, S.D., and Earl, San Diego. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (1989), and brother, Albert.
