Fritz Potthoff
Frederick Wilcox (Fritz) Potthoff, age 76, passed away Dec. 14, 2003, from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and renal failure. Born in St. Louis, Mo., on Oct. 29, 1927, Fritz moved to Nisswa, Minn., with his parents in 1931 when they purchased Minnewawa Lodge on Clark Lake. As a young man, Fritz served as a guide and boat oarsman on the Brainerd lakes in the days before outboard motors.

It was great news to wake up to on a Sunday morning. Many Brainerd area residents were just firing up their coffee makers and preparing for church and holiday preparations when they heard the news that Saddam Hussein was captured.
