InterMedia lands In-Fisherman magazine

Posted: Friday, December 15, 2006

In-Fisherman magazine in Baxter has been sold to InterMedia Partners, a New York-based company.

The deal was completed on Dec. 7. Primedia, the company that bought the magazine from Al and Ron Lindner in 1998, was part of a $170 million cash deal. In-Fisherman now is part of InterMedia Outdoors, a group of 17 hunting, fishing and shooting magazines that includes Fly Fisherman, Game and Fish, Florida Sportsman and Guns and Ammo.

"We're really excited about this," said Patty Harrison, public relations manager at In-Fisherman. "It's a positive change for us. We're enthusiastic about what lies ahead."

In the years after In-Fisherman was sold to Primedia several employees left the magazine and went to work for Al and Ron in their new venture, Lindner Media Group.

"With (Primedia) we were publicly traded on the stock exchange, but with (InterMedia Partners) we're private again," said Jim Kalkofen, executive director of the Professional Walleye Trail, drawing the distinction between the two companies. "This company is still very big. I'd say everybody here is very optimistic."
